Great awe-tentic Mexican! The guacamole was made to order, the salsa was fresh, chips were still warm. Tacos: Carne asada(steak), a little dry, but good flavor Al pastor(pork), cooked & cut off a spit, tender, flavorful, little grisly Lengua(beef tongue), generous portion, well seasoned, had a little chew to it, I prefer it that way... Chicarron y tripas(pork belly & stomach), awesome favorite dish of the night. Crazy flavor, way tender, hit it with the salsa verde!! Chorizo sopes & carne asada sopes. Again, steak was tough, but the chorizo I think was homemade ,rocked. Rice & beans, good & great... Homemade drinks, horchata, melon water, and...something else (missed the name, ingredients weren't familiar). Horchata needed more sugar, melon water rocked!!! Thing thing.... Dunno... Clean! (for what it is, rustic authentic Mexican in a crappy strip mall) Friendly!!! Awesome owner and staff ,super friendly & welcoming! Small, 4 four-tops, 4 two-tops give or take! Will return again and again! And I know I misspelled words in this review...blame it on the beers... :)

There are plenty of authentic Mexican restaurants in the northwest suburbs area, but Los posadas is a diamond in the rough. A small and not incredibly welcoming and warm place located in a not so hot mini strip mall which includes a subway and a convenient store, Los posadas is more authentic than any other. And they deliver too! How great is that! My order of choice is the bean tostadas. Never fail. Not so great for eat in but feat for carry out and deliver!

Great food! Friendly people! My husband and I recently moved to the area and searched online for a good Mexican restaurant. Based on the reviews and location we decided to check this place out. Their tacos are amazing! They taste as good as the street tacos in Mexico. The restaurant is small and not very noticeable in the plaza it's located in and the decor isn't very attractive but the food is definitely worth it. The restaurant appears to be a family run restaurant and they are very friendly. Looks like we found our new taco spot!

Located in a strip mall this hidden gem is delicious. We just moved to the area the past month and visited this place 3 times. The pastor is crunchy with tons of flavor. The chips are homemade and best straight out of the fryer. Delish! I think it's a family owned business and they cater to whatever you want... they are always welcoming and nice.

The food is fresh, fast and tasty. The owner is very nice and tries very hard to make you feel welcome. I go there every few weeks for a couple of tacos, and every now and again for take-away dinner. I usually get their special, which I have always been happy with. Even if the food was not as good as it is, I'd probably return, just because I like the owner(s).

This has been my favorite local place since high school, so for the last... 9 years! The owner is a sweetheart and always seems so happy to see me. I love that! Their food is cooked fresh in front of you and it's delicious. I recommend the fut-Bol-ritto with chicken. The steak has too much fat for my personal taste.

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... I can keep going. It's not the worst, but there are SO many better places I have been to! Maybe it's the area that doesn't offer much Mexican food. The chicken taco wasn't tasty at all. We didn't even get chips and salsa before getting our food.

Really, really good tacos but the best are the tacos al pastor and they have a great jamaica juice.

Let me start by saying that the food was very good. I ordered chicken fajitas with chips and guac. They had to check and see if they had guac and let us know that they did when they found two avacados in the back. Needless to say it was fresh and delicious. They asked me if I wanted the fajitas spicy, and I took the challenge. The spice was just right, and finished the meal pleased with the quality and flavor. Why, you ask, might I give it two stars, then? Well, I had purchased a yelp deal and had intended on going here for dinner prior to going wine tasting in the area. We arrived and the door was locked and the open sign had been turned off with nothing indicating why, regardless of the fact that it was within their normal business hours. We live 40 minutes away, so we would have to once again drive 40 minutes to use the deal. Strike one. Wine tasting fell through that evening, and we decided to return within the week. Upon our return, the place was open and empty. The ambiance left much to be desired. There was nothing more than a strange mural on the wall. No music, no television, and nothing inviting. It wasn't dirty, but it didn't have the feel that it was well taken care of. I can look past good ambiance as long as it's got good food and service. The food, yes. The service, well... Other than one other person who came in to pick up an order, we were the only people in the restaurant. Once our order was done, they set the plate at the front counter and let us know it was ready. They then sat down at the counter and spoke on the phone. I'm not super picky, but I would think that if you were a restaurant owner or employee and had nothing else to do, you might bring the plate to the only in the restaurant and ensure that your guests have what they need. Nope. It's not a huge strike if that's their normal operating procedure, but it is notable, especially considering what happened when we tried to use our Yelp deal. Considering that we had $30 to spend, we made the most of it and ordered enough food to use it. We would likely have spent closer to $20, if we had not had the deal. When we tried to use it however, the gentleman at the counter let us know that he was no longer accepting them. He said that he had intended on putting up a sign letting people know that they would not be taking them anymore, but he hadn't gotten around to it. He simply said sorry and that Yelp should refund my money (which they did). He did not offer to rectify the situation in any way, he just apologized and asked that we pay our bill and be on our way. Is this the worst thing in the world? No, but it did leave us with a bad taste. I would think that he could have at least offered a discount of $10 as that is what we had expected to pay for the meal. Given how it worked out, they made out significantly better than if they would have accepted the deal or offered us a discount instead. It makes me wonder why they hadn't cancelled the deal. I had only bought it less than week before and it was still available on the day I visited the restaurant. Perhaps they didn't know how or were not aware that they could? Regardless, at least in my mind, it's evidence that they're not considering their customers as much as they should be if they would like to remain a viable business. Given this, the overall service, and the lack of any ambiance other than the strange mural, I would not come back, especially for dinner. However, I might consider it for lunch to go if I were in the area.

I've been going here probably 1-2 times a month for the past 4.5 years, as I work nearby. I've tried most of the Mexican joints in the area, and this has been the one most frequented. Their lengua is not only the best in the area, but some of the better stuff I've had period. Seasoned well and has perfect texture. Their chorizo is also top notch, as is the al pastor. Their steak is about average. Portion size is good, you don't feel like you're leaving ripped off from a tiny burrito, nor feel like they're over compensating with a big burrito full of subpar ingredients. Over the past few years their sauce has changed a lot for the better, it's thicker now and the green has a much better heat. Flavor of the red has stayed consistent but is also thicker now, seems pretty authentic (at least to a white dude who has eaten tons of Mexican food). I've never sat down to eat, but it seems like a good place to sit back, order some good Mexican grub and throw back a Negra Modelo or three with a bud.

Love this place. Very authentic. I'm not one to get steak anything when eating Mexican food, (I usually always go chicken) but the steak tacos are fantastic. Lots of meat and pretty spicy. The green sauce is great too. I recommend this place.

We have been going to Los Posadas since they opened and have always been quite satisfied. Tho, about 2 weeks ago we went in and it subtly changed causing us some concern. The facility did not seem as clean as it previously was. Well this past Friday we stopped in and watched people walk out because they did not have chicken and some other items typically expected at a restaurant. One of the items ordered was cheese quesadillas and well when we the quesadillas were just about to get eaten we noticed spots of mold on the tortillas. It wasn't just one spot of mold it was quite a few and NO WAY could they not have been spotted when they were being cooked. After seeing the mold spots we all started wondering what the rest of us had just eaten. So we will not be returning to this restaurant.

I tried eating here about 5 years ago for lunch - ending up crawled up in a ball on the bathroom floor wishing for death because the food poisoning was so bad. How did I know it was from here? Because it was all I ate that day. Fast forward to now and how quickly my brain forgets. My niece and I needed food after a long day. Tacos sounded good and this place was close to us. We walked in and were immediately greeted by a cute little 3(?) year old running around. We checked on the board, ordered two steak taco specials and paid. I sort of watched the owner. He washed his hands in a bucket of water and said it was a cleaning solution since he touched money. Ok, but wouldn't a sink be more effective? Just then my brain and stomach said "OH NO!!! It's this place!" I sat down because I really didn't want to see anymore. We got our food, took it home and ate. Steak Tacos - fatty, gristle filled and barely there Tortillas tasted like they were old, they cracked in the middle. Rice - reheated from not sure when, but it had that old hard rice taste Beans - reheated reheated refried beans. Best part of our meal - her can of Coke! Although - I will say, I didn't suffer from food poisoning this time. I just had horrible cramps and bad tummy issues a couple hours later. Brain and stomach are laughing at me.

Again, this time for the mole. Big chunks of chicken and amazing beans. I like the sauce but it's not as good as Las Palmas. At half the price, it's pretty good.

YUM, YUM, YUM!!!! So good, so fresh and authentic! We LOVE this little hole in the wall place, but it is clean and the food never fails! The service is great as well. We come here several times a month because it is our new favorite mexican place. It's not fancy, but boy is it delicious! And it is so fresh!!! Highly recommended!

We have come here several times for dinner before events at church [Good Shepherd - come visit. ;)], and have found that it is getting better with time. Tried taco's, burrito and Sope's. Al Pastor is one of the better I've had around, and is now a standard favorite with all meals. They make their own red and green salsa's, both excellent. Authentic Mexican recipe's, not 'Tex-Mex'. Service is good. Owner speaks broken English, but pays attention to detail, wiping the tables if needed or left messy by previous guests, showing concern and ensuring we were happy. All food is prepared fresh and to order, and you can taste the family recipe's like you are back in a village in Mexico! TV playing Mexican programming, and many Mexican customers assure that you are in a place reminding them of home. I promise to give a more detailed report after a specific meal! ;)

Very good! Owner is very nice and handsome too 8)The pastor was lovely off the spit! The salsa was a nice red creamy one.. Only bummer was that the avocados were not ripe and we happened to buy two orders of guacamole.....but we WILL go back!

I'm not sure what's up, but the last three times I've been here I've not been happy. Pork very fatty and bland on the tacos. Had to add salt. I gave it three times and I'm sad to say, I'm out. I wish them well as they are very nice people

First time here. Gotta tell ya very impressed with the food at this 8 table family owned restaurant. The owner was very personable and attentive and the BEST burrito I have had . My friend had the Telapia and it was moist and flaky and cooked to order. The chips were fresh made and served with awesome salsa. The re-fried beans were very good and actually had whole beans in it. It is a must try if you are in the area. The decor may not be up to today's "Ultra" restaurants but the home made food is well worth it. You will have to listen to Telemundo, but even Rambo in Spanish is still great.

  • T N.

Wow. The last two times we've been here, the tacos were 25%-50% fat and gristle. I'm really hoping it was a bad shipment of meat or something, but I have to be honest that I don't know if I want to try it again.

  • Jane C.

Friendly people, even though I've only ever gotten delivery, but they sure remember you! I love their pork tacos with just cilantro and onion. Not really a big fan of their burritos, though, because of the lettuce, tomato, and sour cream mixture. Their carne asada items are ok, but not as good as the pastor. For the steak tacos and burritos, I go to El Famous, but for the pastor, I order Los Posadas. Also, personally, I prefer the horchatas here than El Famous. I think El Famous waters their horchatas down a bit too much. Not Los Posadas!

This is a little hole in the wall for Mexican fast food. The food is pretty decent and has a pretty good price. Check out their menu online. The workers seem nice here too. They advertise a "Futbolrrito" for under $5 as well...Haven't tried it yet though, but you can also buy 3 for about $10. Every day they seem to have a special (except Sunday - they're closed) and they do take Mastercard or Visa. Their online menu also says they have free coffee & WiFi and kids under 7 eat free. UPDATE: I wanted to get the fulbolritto, but they were out. So I bought some regular burritos. Not the awesomest I've had, but I'd come here for a steak burrito before going to El Famous.

    (4)
  • Roy A.

I got the futbolrrito finally and it was pretty good. The people working here are real nice too. Just don't think the fotbolrrito is all that big. It's only $5.25 because it's pretty much a regular sized "big" burrito. I think I probably could've put down two if I wanted to.

I got tacos here a couple months ago. Decided I probably wouldn't go back because the tacos were 'mediocre' and I DID NOT like the red salsa (the hotter one) AT ALL. I had such a taste for nachos yesterday though. The only other places around my job are El Famous (where they give you like 10 little triangles of nachos), Grande Jakes (didn't feel like driving over there) and Taco Bell (I wanted something authentic). So I figured I'd just go to Los Posadas to 'somewhat' quench my craving. SOO glad I did!! I had to wait about 15-20 minutes for the nachos (wasn't even lunch rush as it was 2:30). The wait was worth it. When handed my bag, you could feel the heft right away...I took a peek and the syrofoam container (one of the LARGE ones) was LOADED with nachos!! Fresh tortilla chips (I think they make them?), ground beef, lettuce, tomatos, salsa (spicy), a little sour cream, not nearly enough cheese (could hardly tell there was cheese). The nachos even made the red salsa taste good!! I got two meals worth of nachos for 6.50 :) I would totally recommend this place and will have to give the tacos a second chance...that is if I don't get the nachos everytime!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
